At GazMadu Education, we believe that changing the narrative of the value and contribution of creatives and photography in Africa happens when creatives of African descent are equipped with world-class education resources and empowered to build successful businesses.
We are driven by one major purpose which is to elevate the perspectives people have of photography in Africa and the value and contribution of creatives of African descent.
Founded in 2019 by Yagazie Eguare who is the Lead Creative and Founder of GazMadu Studios, the GazMadu Education platform has specialised in providing education resources for creatives and curating a thriving photography community that has impacted over 10,000 photographers till date.
The GazMadu Education photography community is a global hub for creatives who seek to connect with other creatives honing and leveraging their skills in significant ways locally and internationally. Through this community, we bring creatives together through exclusive opportunities including live trainings, courses, events, conferences, coaching and mentorship.
While members of this community are equipped with the right resources, the community also aims to build bridges between creatives, government organizations and international bodies that will lead to a meaningful shift in the role creatives play in the transformation of Africa.

Our Story
It all began in 2012, when Yagazie Eguare answered her calling to photography even though she was a trained Doctor of Optometry at the time. That year, Yagazie closed her chapter as an optometrist to start an adventure as a full-time photographer in 2014. But her love for photography had begun long before this moment.
As a child, Yagazie was fascinated with the camera and jumped at every chance she got to create images. She was fortunate to have parents who fostered her love and passion for photography; they even sent her to photography school.
Photography school gave Yagazie access to specific professional trainings that helped her turn her passion into a profession. These training played a pivotal role in her journey to becoming one of the most recognizable portrait photographers in the photography industry in Nigeria.
However, she soon observed that a lot of photographers who started out like she did, didn’t grow as fast as she was able to because of the limited opportunities they had.
Upon reflection, Yagazie realized that one major difference between the trajectory of her path as a successful professional photographer was the access she had early on to world-class education resources and opportunities.
Yagazie was determined to close this gap. So, she started providing internship opportunities at GazMadu Studios. It became apparent very quickly that she would only be able to reach a limited number of people in this way. Her desire to fix this problem continued to grow.
She knew that the solution to this problem needed to be something that could deliver training and access to opportunities at pace and scale. It had to be something that would reach thousands of creatives across Africa who were burning with passion. It had to be something that would help creatives enhance their skill and build successful, thriving businesses so that they could impact their world with their distinct gifts and talents.
This was how the GazMadu Education platform was born.

Yagazie is on a mission to elevate the perspectives people have of photography in Africa and the value and contribution of creatives of African descent. This is why I founded the GazMadu Education platform in 2019. A trailblazing education platform that equips and empowers creatives across Africa to enhance their skills and build successful, thriving businesses so that they can impact their world with their distinct gifts and talents.
